Dr Anil Sharma, MD, MS (Ophthal), FRANZCO
Dr Anil Sharma is a General Ophthalmic Surgeon. He graduated from Medical School in 1988 and completed his Post Graduate Training in Ophthalmology in 1994. He completed advanced eye training in Sydney Eye Hospital in 2000 and the Royal Adelaide Hospital in 2001. Dr Sharma completed his FRANZCO in August 2005 and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists since 2006. He is actively involved with Qld RANZCO and AMA Qld.
Dr Sharma has been practicing in Rockhampton since 2003. Since 2015 he also visits Central Lakes Eyes Clinic located at the Caboolture Private Hospital and is a Visiting Medical Officer at Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital. He practices in all scope of Comprehensive (General) Ophthalmology such as Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma Management & Surgery, Macular Degeneration, Diabetes & Medical Retina, Periocular Plastic Surgery, Retinal, Vitreous and Macular Diseases and Surgery.
He is a Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology with University of QLD (UQ) and is involved in the teaching and supervising of Ophthalmology to medical students, Registrars, J.H.O’s and P.H.O’s. He has also been involved in educational Activities with local Optometrists and GPs. He is a current member of the Fitzroy River Lions Rockhampton. He enjoys visiting Nepal to participate in cataract surgery programs and teaching in eye camps.
Dr Tai Smith, BSC MBBS FRANZCO
Dr Tai Smith is a Queensland trained ophthalmologist that specialises in eyelid, orbit and lacrimal surgery. His subspeciality fellowship training was completed at the University of British Columbia Eye Care Centre in Vancouver, Canada in 2012. This is a highly sought-after fellowship under the tutelage of Prof Peter Dolman.
Returning to Brisbane, his private ophthalmology practice focusses exclusively in the ophthalmology subspeciality of oculoplastics, orbit and lacrimal surgery. He visits Bundaberg once a month and now services Caboolture and the Moreton region consulting at the Central Lakes Eye Clinic every fortnight.
Dr Smith has research interests including floppy eyelid syndrome with an international patent and publications associated with this project. He is also the CEO of a startup company of his invention “Barista Mist™” – a coffee nasal spray soon to enter the commercialisation stage. He has new research projects with the School of Biomedical Sciences at QUT Kelvin Grove.
